The Mountain Panthers – A new hiking group organised by Herbert Herzmann

Are you a grade 1, 2 or 3+ hiker who is getting on in life and find it hard to keep up with the pace of your group?

If you are one of them you need no longer roam the hills on your own because there are hikers like you: The Mountain Panthers! Why not team up with them?

Just as the Gray Panthers are advocating the rights of the elderly, the Mountain Panthers will look after the not so young members of our club who wish to continue hiking at higher grades albeit at a slower pace. Everybody who feels that they can do a grade 1, 2 or 3+ hike at a relaxed pace, is welcome to join.

Herbert will lead the hikes at his famous alpine pace that is well tried on long and strenuous walks from hut to hut in the Austrian Alps. On these we usually climb between 800 and 1500 m and cover 15 – 20 km every day for six or seven days. At the right pace this is no problem.

The Mountain Panthers will meet at intervals of two or three weeks on Tuesdays or Saturdays from September 2022 onwards. The starting time will be between 9 and 10 a.m. The days, starting points and starting time will be given in the Ramblers bulletin.
